Grand old co-ops like those on East Lake Shore Drive provided some of the inspiration for the condominiums in a new building on the former Children’s Memorial Hospital site in Lincoln Park.
“We wanted them to be reminiscent of those gracious homes in the prewar co-ops,” said Cadey O’Leary, the Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty agent who consulted with the developers on the design of the 32 condos at the Orchard, 2350 N. Orchard St. (The images with this story are renderings.)

The majority of units start at $2.4 million and are three- and four-bedroom floor plans, at 2,400 to 3,750 square feet.
The condos have single-story layouts and feature 10-foot ceilings with crown moldings, kitchens designed by Christopher Peacock, and outdoor terraces, all designed by River North-based firm Soucie Horner.
As well as designing the condo interiors, Soucie Horner “touched every inch of this building, from the lobby to the elevators to the powder rooms,” imbuing the building with “an overall sophistication,” said O'Leary. The building's architecture is the work of prolific Chicago firm Antunovich Associates.
