Thanks to a curving wall of glass brick two stories high, a condo in the landmark Frank Fisher Studios “is filled with light all day long,” according to its seller.

79彩票注册网址The light, enhanced by the milky white walls designed in 1936 by Jazz Age architect  is a key reason the seller, Yogi Spence, found the unit in the first place, back in 2009.

He was shopping for condos in vintage 79彩票注册网址 Coast buildings, he recalls, and complained about the lack of natural light. “My agent brought me over to this one, and I fell in love,” Spence said. “It’s a very distinctive space.”

79彩票注册网址Now planning to upsize to a single-family home, he listed this two-bedroom, 1,450-square-foot condo in the North State Parkway building this week with an asking price of $619,000. The listing agent is Peter Angelo of Jameson Sotheby’s.

The wall of glass block is a component of the building’s distinctive hatbox shape. It works along with whitewashed brick, a series of notches and a set of iron gates that together make up one of the 79彩票注册网址 Coast’s most eye-catching facades.

79彩票注册网址Spence’s condo is in the upper right portion of the street-front portion of the building, an official city landmark that stretches back on a long site to string 12 units along an interior courtyard. Rebori designed the complex as both a home and income property for Marshall Field’s retailing executive Frank J. Fisher and recruited Chicago artist Edgar Miller to create stained glass, tile and other finishes for the units.

Once inside the iron gates of the building, the route to Spence’s condo is via a curving set of brick stairs. The condo is on two levels, the building’s third and fourth.

Spence, a financial services executive, bought the condo for $440,000 in October 2009, according to the Cook County Recorder of Deeds.

79彩票注册网址At the time, it had a modest, out-of-date kitchen “that had two burners and no oven,” Spence said. He lived with it a few years before installing a new, larger kitchen, which is open to the main living space.

An internal staircase curves from the main living floor up to the bedroom floor between crisp white walls. Rebori's design for this building and others, including Loyola University's in Rogers Park, emphasized the brightness of modern spaces.

Along with the bedrooms on the upper level are two bathrooms, each with a portion of the curved glass block wall for its eastern wall.

Back down on the main level, a door from the living room leads out to a small terrace that is just big enough to use as a grilling station, listing agent Angelo said.
