The walls of windows are treated like picture frames, "and the city outside them is the art," said Janice Adams. She and her husband are asking just under $4 million for the unit, including its furnishings. Take a photo tour.

79彩票注册网址When moving back to their hometown from Las Vegas in 2014, John and Janice Adams wanted to be able to partake of one of Chicago’s great assets: views of the unmatched trio of lake, river and skyline.

79彩票注册网址They bought a condo on the 82nd floor of the Trump International Hotel & Tower in large part for its “wall of glass that captures all the beauty of the city as it takes on the colors of the sunrises and sunsets,” Janice Adams said. With about 260 degrees of exposure, the condo is open to the sun’s movement at both ends of the day.

“Up here, it feels like you’re overlooking the entire city, and some days over to Michigan,” she said.

79彩票注册网址The couple bought the condo new from the tower’s high-profile developer. They brought in Cary Vogel, an interior designer based in Las Vegas, to “add warmth, color and texture” to the three-bedroom, 3,100-square-foot home, John Adams said.

79彩票注册网址Vogel removed some walls to open up the space and the views, added stippled wall coverings that look like wood, and wrapped the living room fireplace in multihued tile.

79彩票注册网址John Adams is founder and CEO of Cenegenics Elite Health, which develops aging-management plans. He said a new venture for the firm will require him to live in Las Vegas again, so the couple is selling their Chicago condo.

79彩票注册网址While they were living in Las Vegas, transplanted from Lake Forest, where they raised their kids, the couple often stayed at the Trump hotel, where they grew fond not only of the views but of the level of service and the location, “where everything is right outside your door,” John Adams said. They’re also fans of the work of Adrian Smith, the architect who designed the tower and several other supertall buildings around the world.

They will put their home on the market tomorrow at $3.95 million, which includes the furnishings and artwork. It’s represented by Cara Buffa of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago.

79彩票注册网址After buying the condo for $3.1 million, the couple and their designer removed a few walls and doorways that "interrupted the expansiveness of this view,” Janice Adams said. “We wanted to open up that wow factor.” The pillars, wrapped in a mottled wallcovering that suggests wood, and the drapes “are supposed to be the picture frames,” she said, “and what they frame is the beautiful city, the river and Lake Michigan.”

Vogel wrapped the fireplace with tile in a mix of subdued shades to create a warm complement to “the steel and glass on the other side of the room,” John Adams said.

As built, the condo had a walled-off family room here. As revised, it has a dining room with space to expand the table to seat 12. The couple often entertains with a chef preparing dinner, they said. “The concept here is to have a restaurant table,” John Adams said, “where you can look at the view or watch the chef and servers do their magic.”

They expanded the original footprint of the kitchen to create more gathering space. As he did on the fireplace, Vogel filled the backsplash wall with multihued tile.

79彩票注册网址“You know the song, ‘I can see for miles and miles,’” Janice Adams said. “That’s what we say about our master bedroom,” where the view west stretches beyond O’Hare. Patterned wallcoverings give the walls a mottled effect that changes along with the light.

The master bedroom includes this sitting area, “which is cozy and comfortable, with the fireplace and the view,” Janice Adams said. “It’s our happy place.”

With a view of the sunset, this guest bedroom doubles as “the women’s wine room,” Janice Adams said. The other guest bedroom is on the east side of the condo, where “we have a front-row view of the sunrise every morning,” as well as the Navy Pier fireworks, John Adams said.

79彩票注册网址Nearly any Chicagoan would appreciate this dazzling view, but Janice Adams feels a strong personal connection to it. She said her father, an immigrant from Poland with a sixth-grade education, was part of the team that assembled and installed the antenna atop the original Prudential Building, seen slightly above the center of the image. “We bought this condo less than a month after he passed away,” she said. “I feel comforted to have my dad’s antenna outside my kitchen windows.”

Having both lake and city views is a fortunate combination, John Adams said. “During the day you watch the lake and all its shades of blue,” he said, “but it turns black at night,” about the same time as the city lights up. “We watch it happening,” he said.
