CORRECTED

Cresset Capital Management, a Chicago asset manager, has hired Jessica Malkin, who was the founding CEO of forum event organizer Chicago Ideas.

Malkin will become an executive vice president at the firm, the company said in a statement, to "support strategic growth initiatives—including enhancing client experience, curating learning events, and expanding the firm’s national philanthropic, business and civic engagement initiatives." She will join the company in 2020.

Amanda Salhoot will be interim executive director while Chicago Ideas undertakes a national search for "a permanent executive director," said Michael Walsh, a spokesman for Cresset. Chicago Ideas runs Ideas Week, during which a number of prominent and influential speakers appear at events all over the city.

Malkin is a member of Crain's 40 Under 40 class of 2016.

Cresset, founded in 2017, has been on a hiring binge lately, adding Dave Jackson as the firm's first chief experience officer and Michael Costabile as chief financial officer in November.

The firm, led by Chicago investment industry veterans Avy Stein and Eric Becker, offers wealth management, investment advisory and other financial planning services. Cresset Partners is an arm of the firm that offers direct access to real estate, private equity and other investment options.

Chicago Ideas' name has been corrected in this updated story.
